Action!

From Mirillis Ltd, the developer that brought you Splash Lite, the free media player optimized for HD, comes an advanced recording software tool named Action. There are three main things you can do with the application: make a video recording of what’s on your screen, take a screenshot of what’s on your screen, and record the audio coming out of the speakers.

19.3MB is the size of the Action! Installation file. Run the file once you get if off the web and onto you computer and a simple setup wizard will show up. This setup wizard will help you install Action! on your Windows-powered machine. The recommended system requirements for running Action! are: Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz processor, Full Direct3D 10.0 compatible with Pixel Shader 4.0 support graphics card, 1GB of RAM, Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system.

Just like the aforementioned Splash Lite, Action! features a dark-themed interface. The pane to the left displays a list of all your video recordings, audio recordings, screenshots, or benchmarks. What you see in the pane to the right depends on the tab you select: Video Recording, Audio Recording, Benchmarking, Capture Screenshots, and General Settings.

There are three recording modes for video recording: one optimized for games and applications, one that captures the entire desktop, and one that captures a certain area on the desktop. While recording a game, the whole desktop, or just a section of the desktop, Action! also records the audio that’s playing in the background. If you have a microphone and you would like to include your words into the recording, Action! can also record sound from the microphone. You can start the recording by pressing the big red button from the bottom of the interface, or by using the assigned hotkey.

F9 is the hotkey assigned to start the video recording. F10 is the hotkey for audio recording, F11 for benchmarking, and F12 for taking a screenshot.

For 30 days you can use Action! for free and evaluate the functionality it has to offer. To keep using the application once this trial period is over, you will have to get a license.
